Agri Tourism Pr’Betel, the household name of the farmstead, has stood for over a century along the trail leading up to Mount Golica –one of the best loved hiking destinations in Slovenia and famous for the magnificently scented daffodils that cover its slopes in a blanket of white blossoms each May. The homestead is surrounded by green as far as the eye can see with fresh scented green meadows, forests, pastures, grazing cattle and burbling brooks and streams dotting its picturesque landscape. Our Agri Tourism accommodations combined with delicious homemade meals, impeccable service and a hearty welcome ensures that our guests always feel really great and comfortable during their stay.
Planina pod Golico is the starting point for easier mountain ascents to the summits of Španov vrh, Rožca, Golica, Belščica and other popular nearby peaks. Cyclists and mountain bikers can hone their skills on the Javorniški rovt and Plavški rovt trails. The surrounding slopes boast the only natural tobogganing trail in Slovenia while backcountry skiing is possible on nearby Španov vrh. Planina pod Golico is also an excellent base for day trips to famous nearby tourist destinations such as Bled, Bohinj, Radovljica, Triglav National Park’s Vrata Valley, Kranjska Gora, Planica and more.
Myself, Vera Grgurič, and my husband, Marjan, have been managing the Agri Tourism Pr’Betel Farmstead for over twenty years. Our farm is in many ways different from other tourism farms in Gorenjska – while others have primarily opted for renting out rooms and apartments, Pr’Betel also offers excellent homegrown food and is especially famous for its cured meat products, sumptuous traditional buckwheat dumplings and walnut rolls with honey.
The homestead is owned by my family, the Klinars, and traditionally known as pr’Betel (at the Betels’) – the household name of the high altitude farm that has stood in this spot for over a hundred years. Pr’Betel is the highest lying farmstead in the municipality of Jesenice.
My parents started working in tourism in the seventies and Marjan and I are happy to continue the tradition – all the more pleased knowing that it was my father’s wish for the Agri Tourism to live on. After my parents began rearranging the homestead, my husband Marjan also left his job as a cook in Bled’s Mlino restaurant so that today, we run the Agri Tourism farm alongside our own two grown sons.
Most guests come stay with us at the end of the week. In the wintertime, winter sports enthusiasts come to enjoy sledding/tobogganing or to participate in the tobogganing competition at the all-natural tobogganing track nearby. The summer season begins in May with the blossoming of the daffodils. The fame of Golica’s sweet scented daffodil meadows is renowned far beyond our region so that May attracts many visitors from both Slovenia and abroad.
Our guests can select from among 5 newly renovated double rooms with bathrooms and 2 apartment suites. We offer bed and breakfast, half board and full board. Our menu is simple but hearty – sample the always available homemade beef soup or beef cooked in soup with horseradish and roast. We are most famous for our fresh homemade buckwheat dumplings, which are prepared from buckwheat flour yeast dough and a stuffing made of cottage cheese, groats, chives, eggs and salt. The buckwheat dumplings are sliced and covered with cracklings or butter.
Sunday breakfast features butter, jam, freshly baked bread and cottage cheese with cream, sausage, minced lard and the famous Slovenian potica. All homegrown and homemade. Our regular customers praise the food at Pr’Betel as superb. I do most of the cooking myself while my husband Marjan and son Jure serve our guests. We rely only on ourselves to deliver the best possible quality so we treat ourselves to vacation only in the last week of August but also close the Agri Tourism Farm during the Easter and Christmas holidays.
We really strive to ensure the highest quality in service at affordable prices -our primary wish being an excellent, comfortable and feel-at-home stay for all of our guests and visitors.
Warmly welcome at Pr’Betel!
